July 31, 2024 – CALCIO is a prospective, observational cohort study that is collecting real-world data on the use of intravascular lithotripsy (IVL) with the Shockwave Medical IVL system (Shockwave Medical, Inc.) to disrupt vascular calcifications in patients with chronic limb-threatening ischemia (CLTI).
July 25, 2024 – The CIRSE Fellowship Grant Programme helps members fund an educational one-month stay abroad at a European centre of excellence. Dr. Ákos Bérczi wrote to us to share his experiences with the IR department at St George’s Hospital in London, England.
June 18, 2024 – In collaboration with the interventional radiology section of the Italian Society of Medical and Interventional Radiology (SIRM), the European Board of Interventional Radiology will be offered in Italian for the first time on October 24, 2024. The introduction of the EBIR exam in Italian is an important step towards greater inclusivity in medical certification.
July 11, 2024 – On the eve of ET 2024, leaders of interventional radiology societies from across Europe met in Vienna for CIRSE’s first IR Leadership Meeting. This meeting included interactive discussions and breakout sessions on the current status and set-up of interventional radiology in Europe.
July 4, 2024 – The INTERACT-EUROPE 100 initiative is recruiting 100 cancer centres across Europe to take part in an interdisciplinary training programme over the next three years. Dr. Franco Orsi wrote to us to tell us about the background of the programme and why it is imperative that centres with developed interventional oncology practices take part.
June 27, 2024 – CVIR Endovascular will offer a Young Investigator Award again this year to support young IRs in their research. May 8, 2024 – On Saturday, April 27, CIRSE hosted the third edition of the IO Foundation Course in advance of ECIO 2024 in Palma de Mallorca. Tailored for trainees and young staff members, the course provided participants with an initial understanding of key IO procedures and their integration within a comprehensive, multidisciplinary approach to cancer care.
