Expert opinion on Paclitaxel published in CVIR
July 31, 2023 – A recently published re-analysis of old data and new outcomes on the link between Paclitaxel coated and eluting devices and mortality concluded that this link was not supported. Prof. Stefan Müller-Hülsbeck gave us his thoughts on this development.
IASIOS at IRSA 2023
July 21, 2023 – IRSA, the meeting of the Interventional Radiology Society of Australasia, took place in Sydney, Australia, from June 27-29. IASIOS was invited to the meeting, where members of the IASIOS Steering Board and Council took part in scientific sessions and dedicated IASIOS information sessions.

Next Research at ESMO-GI 2023
July 3, 2023 – CIREL, the CIRSE-sponsored, Next Research administrated observational study on the use and effectiveness of LifePearl Microspheres loaded with irinotecan (irinotecan-eluting TACE) as a treatment for colorectal cancer liver metastases (CRLM), was presented at the European Society for Medical Oncology Gastrointestinal Cancer (ESMO-GI) congress in June.
CVIR Endovascular: Women’s health in the spotlight
June 27, 2023 – In an effort to raise the profile of women’s health, CVIR Endovascular Editor-in-Chief Prof. Jim Reekers invited Dr. Elika Kashef and Dr. Maria Tsitskari, two esteemed editorial board members, to guest edit the journal’s special issue dedicated to this important topic.

The new Paediatric Interventional Radiology Task Force
May 30, 2023 – Though the landscape of paediatric interventional radiology (PIR) is evolving and expanding across Europe, many mainstream IRs still feel underprepared to treat the smallest of patients. With this challenge in mind, CIRSE has launched a new task force – the Paediatric IR Task Force.
CIRSE at APSCVIR 2023
May 17, 2023 – The 17th Annual Scientific Meeting of the Asia Pacific Society of Cardiovascular and Interventional Radiology (APSCVIR) took place from April 12-15 in Seoul, Korea. Several representatives of CIRSE travelled to Seoul to present, meet, and participate in the four days of discussion and exchange on IR.
ESIR in 2023 - an engaging and successful start to the year!
May 8, 2023 – The European School of Interventional Radiology has provided 120 premiere and therapy-focused educational programmes in 24 countries for IR professionals since 2006. ESIR is off to a strong start in 2023, with three fully-booked courses having already taken place this year and several more on the way!
