Embolization is one of the most versatile techniques in interventional radiology, with an ever-expanding role in the treatment of haemorrhage, vascular malformations, and a wide range of benign and malignant diseases. As the number of available embolic agents continues to grow, understanding their individual characteristics and selecting the most appropriate material for each clinical indication has become increasingly important.

Covering the full spectrum of embolic materials—including particles, gelfoam, sclerosants, liquid embolics, coils, and plugs—this ESIR course combines theoretical lectures, animal lab trainings, and case-based discussions to provide a practical understanding of contemporary embolization techniques.

Organized by Prof. Bernhard Gebauer and Prof. Florian Wolf, the programme features extensive ex vivo and in vivo hands-on workshops, giving attendees the opportunity to prepare, handle, and deploy a wide variety of embolic materials under the guidance of experienced faculty. Practical tips and tricks and challenging clinical cases will complement the workshops, ensuring a comprehensive learning experience.

This course is designed for interventional radiologists who have completed their radiology training and are interested in fine-tuning their practical skills and learning more about the current treatment options for routine as well as technically challenging cases.
