The form will verify that candidates meet the following criteria:

Proof of radiology and IR training

Applicants must have completed national radiology training. The applicant and the responsible authority listed in the document are also required to confirm that 2 years of IR training have been completed/will be completed within a specific time frame. At least 1 year of this IR training must be completed after national radiology training. Providing that applicants also meet the other application criteria, they will be allocated a place in the first available examination scheduled after their training has been completed.

Proof of experience

The applicant must verify they have experience as the first operator, performing at least 250 IR procedures, 150 of which have to be interventions according to chapter 2.2.1 Vascular Diagnosis and Intervention and/or chapter 2.2.5.2 Vascular Interventional Oncology in the European Curriculum and Syllabus for Interventional Radiology.

Competency checklist

A competency checklist contained within the application form must be completed by a relevant authority.

CV

Applicants must have attended educational events in the 6 years prior to EBIR registration and have obtained 50 CME credits or equivalent. They must also provide a description of their medical education, previous training posts in radiology and/or IR, as well as a list of their five most recent publications (if applicable).

Membership

All applicants are required to be CIRSE members or corresponding members of CIRSE in the year(s) of application and examination.

All candidates must also be full members or corresponding members of the European Society of Radiology (ESR) in the year(s) of application and examination. An ESR membership certificate must be uploaded during the registration process.

 

Photo ID

The EBIR requires a scanned copy of a state issued photo ID (e.g. passport or driving license) be uploaded during the registration process.

Application fee

The application fee for a remote, online-proctored EBIR examination sitting is 700€.
