Standards of Quality Assurance in IO

The CIRSE Standards of Quality Assurance in Interventional Oncology provide a framework for high-quality patient care, treatment safety, and procedural efficiency in cancer management. Developed by the Cardiovascular and Interventional Radiological Society of Europe and endorsed by more than 40 oncology and radiology societies worldwide, including the European Cancer Organisation (ECO), they reflect global consensus on what structured IO services should look like.

Rather than prescribing specific techniques, the Standards evaluate whether institutions maintain comprehensive IO pathways across the full patient journey: selection criteria, multidisciplinary coordination, peri-procedural management, complication tracking, and structured follow-up.

The Standards form the foundation of IASIOS accreditation.

The Standards of Quality Assurance in Interventional Oncology are essential in achieving the main goal of the International Accreditation System for Interventional Oncology Services (IASIOS): to provide organisations with the opportunity to receive accreditation for high-quality IO care.
