Social media takeovers

Showcase your clinical work, your team and your research to the global IR community

As part of its social media initiatives, CIRSE offers member institutions, physicians, and fellows the opportunity to take over the CIRSE or ECIO social media channels. These takeovers provide a unique platform to share the day-to-day reality of interventional radiology and interventional oncology, highlighting clinical practice, interesting cases, best practices, teamwork, research, and departmental life.

By participating, you can showcase your expertise and connect with a global audience of more than 25,000 followers across the CIRSE and ECIO social media channels.

Each social media takeover shared across either the CIRSE or ECIO social media channels inlcuding LinkedIn, Facebook and X. Throughout the week, we typically publish two to three posts per day, giving participants the opportunity to showcase different aspects of their department, clinical practice, and team. Content can be submitted in advance or throughout the week via email, WhatsApp, or another preferred communication platform, allowing for a flexible and straightforward process.

Each social media takeover runs for one assigned week from Monday to Friday. During this time, the content will be featured alongside regular posts from the CIRSE Communications Department, which will continue to publish society news, congress updates, and other important announcements across the channels. This ensures that the takeover is integrated seamlessly into CIRSE’s ongoing communications while also offering dedicated visibility throughout the week.

During takeovers, we encourage that a variety of content, including interesting cases and procedures, clinical tips and best practices, a glimpse into your department and team, behind-the-scenes moments, research or congress highlights, and personal insights that showcase your personality are shared.

Before the takeover starts, you’ll be added to a dedicated WhatsApp group where photos, videos, and captions can easily be shared throughout the week, or the content can also be submitted via email to [email protected].

We kick off takeovers with an introduction post, with a recent headshot, a short biography, and the Monday content by the Friday before the takeover.

Takeover candidates are encouraged to participate in two of CIRSE’s recurring social media campaigns during their takeover. On Clinical IR Tuesday (#ClinicalTuesday), posts highlighting clinical services, such as outpatient consultations, ward rounds, or patient care, are encouraged. On #TraineeThursday, trainees and residents can be featured by sharing a case they contributed to, showcasing clinical practice from their perspective, or highlighting how education and training are integrated into the department.

Takeover candidates are asked to ensure that all content is professional and appropriate for a global audience. Posts should not contain offensive language, political or religious opinions, or content that discredits colleagues, products, or organizations. Overt promotion of specific commercial products, industry partners, journals, or competing congresses should also be avoided.

All patient identifiers must be removed from images and videos, and patient consent must be obtained if a case could potentially identify the patient. All content is subject to review, and the CIRSE Communications Department reserves the right to determine whether material is suitable for publication.
