Mission and values
The Cardiovascular and Interventional Radiological Society of Europe (CIRSE) is a non-profit making, educational and scientific association aiming to improve patient care through the support of teaching, science, research, and clinical practice in the field of cardiovascular and interventional radiology.
CIRSE’s mission is to provide continuing education and training for its members, as well as other physicians and scientists with an active personal involvement and/or interest in interventional radiology. CIRSE promotes the exchange of ideas and information for the further definition of the role, direction, and goals of cardiovascular and interventional radiology as a subspecialty of radiology.
CIRSE aims to improve ethical, technical, and material conditions in cardiovascular and interventional radiology to enhance patient care. CIRSE is governed by its Executive Board and has its registered office in Vienna, Austria.
Respect for human life
Equal access to healthcare, the protection of medical personnel, and the sanctity of human life is of the highest importance to CIRSE. CIRSE therefore strongly condemns any violence perpetrated against civilians and healthcare personnel as well as destructive action against healthcare facilities, particularly in armed conflict settings, as these acts have fatal humanitarian consequences and prevent health systems from providing critical care.
Professionalism
CIRSE upholds the highest standards of professionalism in all aspects of its work and is committed to integrity, accountability, and evidence-based practice in its decision-making, education, and interactions with members and partners. CIRSE fosters a culture of continuous learning, ethical conduct, and responsible leadership to ensure that interventional radiology is advanced with excellence and in the best interest of patients and society.
Diversity and equality
CIRSE strongly believes in diversity and equality and accordingly supports an inclusive culture. CIRSE puts inclusivity at the heart of all its activities. CIRSE strives to provide the opportunity to all of its members and employees to work effectively within the society and support each other and colleagues without bias.
