December 11, 2025

CIRSE added a variety of videos to its online portfolio throughout the year, including webinars, standards of practice procedural videos, and on-demand congress lectures. As 2025 comes to a close, CIRSE Insider has picked five of the most popular videos from this year for you to (re)visit and enjoy!

The Role of DEB-TACE in HCC

The CIRSE webinar on drug-eluting therapy for liver malignancies featured engaging lectures from three keynote speakers, including one from Dr. Tobias Jakobs. In his lecture, Dr. Jakobs gave an overview of guidelines and current research on the use of DEB-TACE in treating hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). He also discusses the advantages and disadvantages of this evolving technique, how it compares to cTACE, and the importance of determining if your patient is “TACEable”.

Carotid artery stenting – CIRSE Standards of Practice procedural video

Complementing the release of the CIRSE Standards of Practice document on carotid artery stenting, this lecture presents a real-life case from Prof. Stavros Spiliopoulos, who walks viewers through the treatment of a patient with restenosis in his interventional radiology unit at the “Attikon” University Hospital in Athens, Greece. From preparation to post-stenting follow up, this video illustrates best-practice guidance in carotid artery stenting at every stage of treatment.

Modern DVT intervention: pivotal clinical trials

The Expert management of DVT in 2025 webinar covered developments in the deep vein thrombosis (DVT) landscape and their subsequent implications for clinical practice. In one of the stand-out lectures of the webinar, Dr. Kush Desai provides a brief overview of the key findings from significant DVT studies over the years such as the Catheter-Directed Venous Thrombolysis (CaVenT) study, the Acute Venous Thrombosis: Thrombus Removal with Adjunctive Catheter-Directed Thrombolysis (ATTRACT) trial, and more.

Are drug-coated balloons the standard of care?

Drug-coated devices have garnered significant attention in the IR field. Dr. Farah Irani shared up-to-date data on the efficacy of drug-coated balloons, namely those with paclitaxel and sirolimus, in the endovascular treatment of femoropopliteal disease. Dr. Irani compared findings from both randomized controlled trials and real-world studies and addressed key considerations such as treatment success and failure predictors as well as lesion-specific treatment strategies.

HCC management from 2020-2025: The revolution in ablation

Over the last five years, ablation has developed into one of the most advanced therapies in interventional oncology. During ECIO 2025, Dr. Mark Burgmans concisely summarized the latest data, technologies, and techniques that have emerged in ablation. If you want to learn why “eyeballing” margin assessment in treatment evaluation may no longer be sufficient in ablation therapy, take a listen to this lecture.
