Basel is one of Europe’s most well-connected cities, sitting at the crossroads of Switzerland, Germany, and France. For detailed information on reaching the venue and getting around the city, visit the venue and transportation page.
Once you arrive at the Messe and Congress Center Basel, you can self-print your congress badge with the badge code provided in your registration email. If you’d like to avoid long queues, you can get a head start and visit the self-printing stations as well as the registration help desk between 11:00 and 18:00 on Sunday, April 26.
Want to join the congress virtually? All-Access Pass holders and in-person delegates will be able to watch session recordings on demand shortly after sessions take place through the online congress platform.
The ECIO Scientific Programme Committee has prepared an engaging and dynamic programme for 2026.
Multidisciplinary tumor board sessions are a cornerstone of the ECIO programme. This year, sessions will focus on lung, liver, renal, and colorectal cancer, bringing together experts from different specialties to discuss complex cases and treatment strategies.
Not to be missed is the Thierry de Baère Lecture, delivered by Prof. Afshin Gangi with a laudation from Prof. Jean Palussière, on the future of interventional oncology in 2030.
As part of ECIO meets, the European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO), the Spine Society of Europe (EUROSPINE), and the European-African Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary Association (E-AHPBA) will each have sessions on how their specialty intersects with IO.
Hands-on training opportunities will be plentiful. Training sessions will be offered across three areas: tumour ablation (including a training on confirmation software), musculoskeletal oncologic interventions, and radioembolization.
If you’re interested in developing your soft skills, two communications workshops will be held on patient communication and MDT decision-making.
Female delegates are warmly welcomed to RSVP for the Women in IR Networking Breakfast, which will provide networking opportunities and inspirational stories from female leaders in cancer care.
New to interventional oncology (IO)? The IO Foundation Course is the perfect starting point.
Taking place on the first day of the congress, the course offers five sessions covering key IO procedures and the IO toolkit. In addition, a multidisciplinary faculty will present on the essentials of the other three pillars of cancer care: medical, surgical, and radiation oncology.
The Collaborating Against Cancer Initiative is open to all interventional radiologists/radiologists with a complete ECIO registration to take a non-radiologist colleague to the congress free of charge with up to € 1,000 in travel support.
This important initiative helps increase awareness of IO, strengthens collaboration between disciplines, and allows your non-IR colleague from your tumour board to learn more about IO. Click here to learn more and register your colleague!
