Looking forward to ECIO 2024

March 1, 2024

The world’s premier meeting on interventional oncology is coming up quickly! While it’s not time to pack your bags for Palma quite yet, read on to make sure you get the most out of your ECIO 2024 congress experience.

Access options

ECIO will travel to Palma de Mallorca for the very first time for ECIO 2024. Palma’s state-of-the-art Palau de Congressos first opened its doors in 2017. This sustainably designed space will offer a comfortably modern backdrop for scientific presentations, meetings, and networking.

On-site attendees will receive their badge code by email for easy self-printing at the congress centre. If you’d like to beat the lines, the self-printing stations and registration help desk will be open between 11:00 and 18:00 on Saturday, April 27.

In-person delegates and All-Access Pass holders will also have access to the custom-built online congress platform, on which all sessions from auditoriums 1 and 2 will be live streamed from Palma. Lectures from all auditoriums will be available for on-demand viewing shortly after they conclude.

From tried and true to cutting-edge

The ECIO 2024 Scientific Programme Committee, under the leadership of Chairperson Laura Crocetti and Deputy Chairperson Jean Palussière, has compiled a dynamic programme that will play out over the course of four days, 192 presentations, 40 sessions, and 20 opportunities for hands-on device training.

Highlights will include combination strategies for HCC treatment, immuno-oncology, paediatric IO, and much more. Additionally, ECIO 2024 will include “ECIO meets” sessions with both the European Society for Radiotherapy and Oncology (ESTRO) and the European Society for Organ Transplantation (ESOT.) A basic course series covering ablation basics in kidney and adrenal treatment will also be held in the evening during the first three days of the congress.

Can’t wait for April? Take a first look at some of this year’s topic highlights with articles from their respective lectures via the ECIO 2024 sneak peeks!

Get hands-on

ECIO 2024 will feature various exclusively in-person sessions that will give participants the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the following areas: tumour ablation, radioembolization, musculoskeletal oncologic interventions, and safe sedation application during IR procedures. Don’t miss the opportunity to be there live to catch these top-rated sessions and advance your technical skills! Participation is free of charge for all registered attendees, but places are limited and will be allocated on a first-come, first served basis. As all hands-on training sessions offer practical medical training, participation is for qualified medical professionals only.

The IO Foundation Course

After a successful first instalment at ECIO 2022, CIRSE again offered an Interventional Oncology Foundation Course in 2023, providing young interventionists interested in expanding their practice to include oncology treatments a first introduction to the fourth pillar of cancer care; a fantastic learning opportunity for young physicians ready to become the next generation of interventional oncologists!

If you have not had the chance to attend the IO Foundation Course so far, you can do so one day prior to ECIO 2024 in Palma de Mallorca! Click here for more information.

Bring a friend…

The Collaborating Against Cancer Initiative is open to all interventional radiologists/radiologists with a complete registration to take a non-radiologist colleague to ECIO 2024 free of charge with up to € 1,000 in travel support.

This important initiative helps get the word out about IO, strengthens collaboration between disciplines, and allows your non-IR colleague from your tumour board learn more about IO. Click here to find out more about the initiative or to learn how to register your colleague!

…and don’t forget to download the app!

The CIRSE app is your one-stop location for all things CIRSE year-round – but it’s also your best friend onsite at the congress!

The ECIO 2024 event within the app will include schedules, floorplans, and everything you need to know to navigate the congress. Plan your congress experience by saving your favourite sessions! The app also allows you to use the Q&A option to send questions to moderators during sessions and to participate in e-voting.
