Get ready for ET 2024!

April 9, 2024

The most comprehensive annual meeting on embolotherapy will take place in Vienna from June 1-4! Read on to ensure that you are ready to experience everything ET has to offer.

Access options

While CIRSE has hosted several congresses in the Austrian capital over the years, this is the first time that ET will take place in Vienna. On-site attendees will receive their badge code by email for easy self-printing at the congress centre. If you’d like to beat the lines, the self-printing stations and registration help desk will be open between 16:00 and 18:00 on May 31 before the start of the congress.

In-person delegates and All-Access Pass holders will also have access to the custom-built online congress platform, on which many sessions from the live meeting will be available for on-demand viewing shortly after they conclude.

Make sure you are fully registered for ET 2024 to be ready to experience the congress from the first session onwards. It’s also not too late to get the 2024 All-Access Pass!

A unique learning experience

The ET 2024 Scientific Programme Committee, under the leadership of Chairperson Otto van Delden and Deputy Chairperson Pierleone Lucatelli, has compiled a dynamic programme including 91 lectures featuring nearly 90 speakers

Highlights will include sessions on MSK, women’s and men’s health, TACE for HCC, embolization in trauma, lymphatics, and much more. A new session format will debut this year: plenary sessions on some of the most important embolization topics in the field will be followed by “Deep dive” sessions on the same subject in which attendees will have the opportunity to meet with the experts in a more intimate setting to ask their questions and have informal discussions.

Can’t wait for June? Take a first look at some of this year’s topic highlights with articles from their respective lectures via the ET 2024 sneak peeks!

Hands-on training sessions

ET 2024 will feature various exclusively in-person sessions that will give participants the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the following areas: plugs and coils, liquid particles, and microcatheters and microwires. The hands-on device training session represents the most effective method for providing onsite delegates with an overview of the materials and tools available for various embolization subspecialties. The sessions will also help delegates familiarize themselves with fundamental manipulation techniques and the devices’ safe and efficient use in a clinical setting. Each topic will be offered multiple times to make sure that as many attendees as possible can benefit.

IR in Austria – a note from the local host

Prof. Manfred Cejna is the local host for ET 2024. Prof. Cejna is an interventional radiologist and is the Head of the Department of Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology of the LKH Feldkirch, a tertiary referral centre in the  western part of Austria, close to Switzerland and Germany, which serves a local population of about 400,000.

On the subject of IR and embolization in Austria, Prof. Cejna says “IR has long been the main provider of endovascular services [in Austria], over the last years sharing the work with vascular surgeons and angiologists in aortic treatment and peripheral vascular treatment. Dedicated endovascular and oncological treatments are often performed by IRs in Austria. Training starts during a fellowship in radiology, and subspecialisation is usually performed after the completion of fellowship. Here, we (ÖGIR, the Austrian Society of Interventional Radiology) share the same training path with our German (DEGIR) colleagues: documentation of cases, documentation of theoretical training, EBIR diploma, and four to six documented paths together with neurointerventions for subspecialisation, embolization being one of those paths … we’ve always worked out a multi-disciplinary approach, attracting colleagues from other disciplines and not obstructing them.”

Prof. Cejna is personally looking forward to seeing colleagues from around the world at the congress and showing them what Vienna has to offer. He encourages all attendees to take a walk through the city and find a quiet place for a coffee or ice cream.

See you in Vienna!

Vienna, Austria’s capital, has earned a well-deserved reputation as a prominent centre for scientific research and a preferred choice for hosting conferences and academic assemblies. In fact, the International Congress and Convention Association (ICCA) ranked Vienna first in terms of congress metropolises for 2022. The city’s central location in Europe and excellent transportation connectivity with international flights and top-ranked public transportation make it accessible for attendees from around the globe. Moreover, the city’s cultural and historical charm, coupled with a high quality of life, adds an enriching dimension to any conference experience.

ET 2024 will take place at the Messe Wien Exhibition and Congress Center, a state-of-the-art facility offering modern lecture halls, meeting rooms, and ample space for a memorable exhibition. Next to the congress centre, the Prater area, one of Vienna’s biggest parks, offers delegates the possibility to take a relaxing stroll between sessions or end their day at one of the area’s many restaurants which range from the classic sausage stands to restaurants for more refined tastes.
