Grant recipients

Application for CIRSE Foundation 2013 Education Grants is now possible throughout the year.

As of March 25th, all 9 Fellowship Grants for 2013 have been awarded.

The following grants are still available:

  • 1 Fellowship Education Grant especially dedicated to members from China


The purpose of the education grant is to advance training and education in Interventional Radiology. The grants are available for CIRSE Members, particularly Fellows or Junior Faculty, who wish to train or experience new procedures at a different European institution. For example, the grants can be used to learn a new procedure and/or skills that may be needed at the applicant’s institution or to undergo training not available at the applicant’s own institution. Applications can be submitted for two grant categories:

Training in any IR topic possible (European residency required):

9x Fellowship Grants (minimum 3 months, € 10,000)

5x Visiting Scholarship Grants (minimum 2 weeks, € 2,000)

 Application Form Fellowship Grant (min. 3 months, € 10,000)

 Application Form Visiting Scholarship Grant (min. 2 weeks, € 2,000)


Training in following topics only:
Embolotherapy, Arterial Leg Therapy (including Critical Limb Ischemia), PE Preventions, Venous Access, Percutaneous Drainage Procedures, TIPPS, Soft Tissue and Bone Biopsy, GI Procedures, Vertebroplasty:

1 x Fellowship Education Grant especially dedicated to members from South America
(minimum 3 months, € 10,000)*

1 x Fellowship Education Grant especially dedicated to members from China
(minimum 3 months, € 10,000)*

 Application Form Fellowship Grant South America (min. 3 months, € 10,000)

 Application Form Fellowship Grant China (min. 3 months, € 10,000)

Eligibility and Guidelines
• The applicant must be a CIRSE member in good standing.
• Applicants choose the institution (in Europe) they wish to attend and make all necessary arrangements.
• The grant is to be used to cover travel expenses, housing and other indirect costs.
• The applicant must clearly formulate educational goals and a budget plan covering a minimum of two weeks for the Visiting Scholarship Grant or three months for the Fellowship Grant.
• The applicant must complete the official application form (see relevant pdf form) and send it, along with all the documents specified in the application form, to CIRSE Central Office.
• The application will be judged by the CIRSE Foundation Review Board on the information provided in the grant application form.
• Notification of acceptance/denial will be sent 8 weeks after successful submission.
• Upon completion of training, the grant recipient is expected to submit a final report.
• Trainees may receive a maximum of 2 fellowship grants and a maximum of 4 grants in total (including visiting scholarships). Applications for the second fellowship grant will only be considered at least 2 years after the first one has been awarded.

Required Documents
Please attach the following documents to the respective application form:

1. Covering letter to explain why you want to visit the chosen institution.
2. Letter of recommendation from the Head of the Department where you are currently working.
3. Letter from the chosen institution, confirming your visit, the duration of your stay and an outline of the training offered.
4. Detailed budget outlining how the Education Grant will be spent.
5. Curriculum vitae.
