EBIR in Portuguese

Next examination in Portuguese: March 18, 2027, 13:00 (CET) application deadline: January 28, 2027

As part of ongoing efforts to make the EBIR examination accessible to a broader global audience, CIRSE is pleased to announce that, in collaboration with APRI and SOBRICE, the EBIR examination will be offered in Portuguese for the first time, with a one-time session scheduled for March 18, 2027 at 13:00 CET.

The examination is based on the European Curriculum and Syllabus for Interventional Radiology and covers all fields of vascular and non-vascular interventions as well as interventional oncology. An English version of the Curriculum is available for download here.

Although many Portuguese IRs have already obtained an EBIR certification, the introduction of the Portuguese-language EBIR examination offers a key opportunity to engage the remaining community and broaden access to this qualification across the Portuguese-speaking IR world. At the same time, we encourage EBIR-certified colleagues to consider further professional development through subsequent certifications such as EBIR-IO and EBIR-ES.

Registration is open for all CIRSE members who wish to sit the European Board of Interventional Radiology (EBIR) in the Portuguese language.

We would like to clarify to all candidates who would like pursue this option that only the examination content will be in Portuguese. Due to the international nature and recognition of the examination, the application, examination software, feedback, appeals, and any correspondence with the CIRSE office will be carried out in English.

A Portuguese translation of the Marks & Standards document is available for download and contains information on the examination format, marking, results, and the appeals process of the EBIR.
