Getting ready for CIRSE 2025

September 9, 2025

CIRSE 2025 is only days away – Read on to make sure you have your plans set for the IR congress of the year! Join the more than 700 presentations given by a faculty of over 500 experts from around the world, 78 hands-on device trainings, a fantastic exhibition, and countless networking opportunities!

Access to the congress

Onsite delegates will receive their badge code by email for easy self-printing at the congress centre. If you’d like to beat the lines, the self-printing stations and registration help desk will be open one day before the congress starts, from 16:00 to 18:00 on September 12.

As in previous years, both in-person and online attendees will be able to watch sessions via the online congress platform, on which most sessions will be streamed live and all lectures will be available on demand shortly after they have taken place. The congress platform is now live, so why not head on over there to check out the more than 1,200 posters already available!

It’s not too late to register or purchase the 2025 All-Access Pass!

Content from CIRSE 2025 will remain on the platform for 12 weeks after the congress, at which point it will move to the CIRSE Library where it can be accessed by all CIRSE members.

Celebrating 40 years of pioneering progress

CIRSE 2025 will certainly one for the books! Marking the congress’ and society’s 40-year anniversary, we hope that as many people as possible will be able to join us in Barcelona to celebrate this monumental occasion.

In a spectacular opening ceremony on Saturday, Sept. 13, we will look back at the society’s decades-spanning history and honour some of our most outstanding members (see below).

Make sure to take a group picture or selfie with our special photo ops in the entrance hall and post it on your social media channels using the hashtag #40YearsofCIRSE along with #CIRSE2025.

Programme highlights

With a programme spanning 700 presentations, CIRSE 2025 will certainly be one for the books. Browse the interactive programme on the congress platform to put together your list of must-see sessions! For a preview of great topic highlights, we have asked some of this year’s lecturers to give us a sneak peek of their talks. Find them all here.

Some of the interdisciplinary highlights will certainly be the CIRSE meets sessions. This year, CIRSE will meet the European Society for Paediatric Oncology (SIOPE) to discuss the future of paediatric oncology and the European Association of Percutaneous Cardiovascular Interventions (EAPCI) to scrutinize renal denervation.

For the latest in research, don’t miss this year’s FIRST@CIRSE sessions featuring new data releases for various trials and studies as well as the Meet the PI sessions in which upcoming research will be presented.

Awards and honours

At the opening ceremony, some of the most distinguished members of the CIRSE community will be honoured, with former SPC Chairman Prof. Adam Hatzidakis and former ET Chairperson Otto van Delden joining the ranks of distinguished fellows. Prof. Riad Salem will receive the prestigious Award of Excellence and Innovation in IR, and both Dong Erk Goo et al. and David-Dimitris Chlorogiannis et al. will receive the CVIR Editors’ Medal. The society’s highest honour, the CIRSE Gold Medal, will be awarded to Prof. Afshin Gangi. Find out more about this year’s awardees here!

AI in IR

Following its successful debut at last year’s congress, SPHAIRE – the interactive learning zone highlighting artificial intelligence and other emerging technologies in IR will again be featured at the congress, offering lectures, an interactive exhibition, and – new this year – a workshop on creating AI applications. Learn more about the SPHAIRE programme here!

Radiation Protection Pavilion

This year’s Radiation Protection Pavilion themed “Be smart with your dose” will feature a series of safety talks offering valuable tips and tricks on how to better protect patients and the team from radiation. Read the programme here and join international experts and industry partners for lectures, a round table on radiation protection for women in IR, and more!

Women in IR events

CIRSE 2025 will feature a number of events tailored to women in IR, offering a platform to discuss some of the challenges faced by female practitioners. In addition to a Women in IR session, a trainee session will hone in on early career challenges, there will be a dedicated day in the Radiation Protection Pavilion programme, and two Women in IR workshops. Get your hands on the latest tools

CIRSE 2025 will offer numerous opportunities to gain hands-on experience with the latest tools and devices.

The Hands-on Device Trainings (HDT) will offer sessions that allow attendees to get an overview of the various devices available for a specific procedure while at the same time providing hands-on experience to participants. Safe sedation workshops will give participants the opportunity to perform procedural sedation (PSA) in a simulated environment under expert guidance. In the IDEAS practical course series, aortic topics will be covered, providing participants with the opportunity to experience a more hands-on learning approach.

The simulation training sessions will allow delegates to follow demonstrations of interventional techniques and practice certain procedures under the guidance of an expert instructor and/or simulator technician. Additionally, the GI-Lab sessions will familiarize attendees with the devices used for common GI procedures.
