Endovascular Fellowship Grants

Are you an interventional radiologist eager to refine your skills in various endovascular procedures? Would you like to experience working in a highly specialised European centre and discover new setups while expanding your professional network? Then CIRSE’s new endovascular-focused grants might be the thing for you! Through this partnership with BD, seven grants will be made available this year in three different categories:

  • Vessel Preparation: 2 x 2-month fellowship & 2 x 3-month fellowship
  • Deep Venous: 2 x 2-month fellowship
  • Ambulatory Care: 1 x 1-month fellowship

The grant shall consist of a €3,000 funding per month for each selected participant.

How to apply

The application period for the 2026 funding cycle will be open from March 6 to April 2.   

 Application criteria

  • Applicant must be an interventional radiologist (in training) or a radiologist with interventional radiology experience
  • Applicant must be a CIRSE member in good standing. To check your membership status, log into the myCIRSE area. Not a member yet? Become one today

 Application process

  1. Applicants must indicate the institution in Europe they wish to attend and make all necessary arrangements directly with the institution. Preference shall be given to recommended training centres, but applicants are free to make arrangements with any European institution. 

Note: In the application process, a letter from the hosting institution confirming the preliminary arrangements must be submitted. All arrangements with the hosting institution shall be planned to start in June at the earliest as all candidates will be notified by May 11 about whether their application has been successful. 

  1. Applicants must submit their application via the online application portal, and upload these documents 
  • Motivation letter clearly formulating the educational goals of the planned fellowship
  • Recommendation letter from current head of department
  • Letter from hosting institution confirming preliminary arrangements (click here to download a template) 
  • Budget outlining how the grant will be spent. Please note that the grant must be used to cover travel expenses, housing, and other indirect costs.
  • Completed and signed application form in PDF format
  • Additionally, applicants will be asked to submit information regarding the following points in the online application form:
    • Previous publications in CVIR, CVIR Endovascular and CVIR Oncology 
    • Previous presentations at CIRSE events 
    • Previous attendance of CIRSE events 
  • EBIR holder or currently registered for the EBIR 
  1. Once the applicant has successfully submitted the online application, they will receive an email confirming the submission.
  2. The application period will be open until April 2.
  3. An independent review board will review and score all applications after April 2, 2026.All applicants will be notified whether their application has been successful by May 11.
  4. After completion of the fellowship, candidates are requested to submit a final report to the CIRSE office within eight weeks.
  5. Candidates are also required to submit at least one abstract to one of CIRSE’s conferences, presenting either any clinical evidence, data, case studies or educational aspects fromtheir experience at the Hosting Institution.
