The oral examination comprises 10 stations. Each station lasts 10 minutes. One medical case is discussed per station.

The assessment content includes all curricular items as per the European Curriculum and Syllabus of Interventional Radiology. An appropriate distribution of topics provides for the examination of the whole spectrum of the curriculum and syllabus.

When answering examination questions, candidates are advised to focus on procedure and technique unless otherwise asked. Candidates may encounter procedures that they do not perform themselves. This is recognised and the EBIR feel that having covered the curriculum, all candidates should be able to attempt all stations, even if at some, their description is based on theory only.
