EBIR signs MoU with PAIRS
Introducing the EBIR’s latest collaboration – The Pan Arab Interventional Radiology Society (PAIRS)
The European Board of Interventional Radiology (EBIR) is not only expanding its group of proud diploma holders but also strengthening its collaborations with IR societies around the globe. On February 11, CIRSE and PAIRS leadership signed a memorandum of understanding that consolidates the common effort to promote the examination and facilitate access for their members.
The EBIR was also represented with a booth at this year’s annual scientific meeting of the Pan-Arab Interventional Radiology Society, which was met with great interest. Many radiologists, interventional radiologists, and trainees stopped by to get more information. Successful candidates also visited the booth and shared their methods and tips for how to best prepare for the examination.
Switching to a fully remote format in 2021 was a game changer for the EBIR, as it became accessible to more candidates from all over the world who are now able to take the examination from their own homes.
EBIR hopefuls do not have to go far to find a great range of study resources – CIRSE has it all in one place. The CIRSE Library and the CIRSE Academy offer different options to help fill any knowledge gaps and complement already acquired practice. A collection of Standards of Practice documents from CIRSE experts and other relevant societies are also available to supplement guidelines. All resources are aligned with the European Curriculum and Syllabus for Interventional Radiology, which is the basis of the examination and provides candidates with a comprehensive outline of knowledge and skills necessary to pass the examination.
Successful candidates are thus able to produce widely recognised proof of their IR expertise which results in advantages like greater job mobility and it supports IRs’ career development.
Last year, the landmark of 1,000 EBIR holders worldwide was surpassed and a fast increase is already emerging. The scalable, remote format allows the rise in applications to be easily accommodated, and it’s now possible to offer the EBIR in other languages than English. A German version took place in March 2023, and in October Spanish speaking candidates can take the assessment in their mother tongue.
The next available options to take the EBIR are
October 19, 2023 (English | Spanish)
March 21, 2024 (English | German)
October 24, 2024 (English | Spanish)
