CIRSE travels to Romania
CIRSE group member SNRIR, the Romanian Society of Neuroradiology and Interventional Radiology, held their second Regional Multidisciplinary Symposium of Minimally Invasive Techniques in Iasi, Romania, from March 30 to April 2 this year.
This year’s SNRIR Symposium was in partnership with Academy of Medical Sciences and the “Grigore T. Popa” University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Iasi, Romania.
SNRIR became a CIRSE group member in 2019. (Read our interview from SNRIR President Prof. Gheorghe Iana here on page 4). They are an educational and scientific non-profit aiming to improve patient care in IR by providing continuing education for members, improving ethical, technical, and material conditions in IR. This year’s conference, which also served as the 12th edition of SNRIR’s annual meeting, included foci on pain therapy, acute venous pathology, cerebrovascular pathology caused by ischaemic stroke, and haemorrhagic stroke.
Members of CIRSE’s leadership were thrilled to be invited to take part in the symposium and in a dedicated “SNRIR meets CIRSE” session.
This session included CIRSE President Prof. Christoph Binkert, who presented on CIRSE as a society and our educational events before also giving a scientific presentation on double vein embolization. Prof. Robert Morgan, who was CIRSE’s president in 2017-19, also participated in the session, giving a presentation on the role of interventional radiology in GI haemorrhage. Prof. Morgan also presented on the EBIR and CIRSE’s online education offerings.
After the session, Profs. Binkert and Morgan were both presented with Certificates of Excellence by SNRIR’s vice president, Prof. Bogdan Popa.
CIRSE extends our warmest thanks for the invitation, and a congratulations to SNRIR on an excellent meeting!
